Why was I denied opening Savings account?

I%26#039;ve just moved to the US with my husband who is a US Citizen, I have a green card and just got my social security number. My husband has a bank account of his own... but we decided to open up a joint Savings account online with Bank of America and they said that I was denied. WHY?

what does this mean? how can a bank deny a Savings account?? does this have something to do with my credit? I don%26#039;t have any credit here yet because I haven%26#039;t been able to work but now I need a bank account for a job.

How can I open up a bank account? and would this denial have a negative impact on my credit rating now?

THank you

I don%26#039;t think it has to do with your credit if it is a savings account. I think it has to do with your citizenship status. I agree just ask the bank maybe the online application didn%26#039;t understand your situation.

The denial will not hurt your credit. If there is a local credit union in your area go there and open an account.

Good luck.

Did you ask the bank?

They should give you a reason
