Should I take advantage of the online special at WAMU right now - 5% APY if you get a savings and checking account, or open an Emigrant Direct online savings account? Will that WAMU rate stay so high or will it drop later? I%26#039;m more confident in the consistency of Emigrant%26#039;s rate. What do you all suggest? Any users of either of these banks? I currently have checking with Bank of America.
WAMU or Emigrant Direct?credit cards
You have to remember that WaMu and EmigrantDirect.com are very different establishments. EmigrantDirect.com is strictly online, meaning no branch offices, no check writing priveleges, etc. WaMu is a brick and mortar facility as well as an online presence. You%26#039;ll get an actual checkbook from WaMu which may or may not be helpful to you, depending on how your personal finances are.
The WaMu rate in all likelihood will go down, though, whereas EmigrantDirect.com has greater ability (and incentive) to keep their rates higher. Overall, it kind of depends on how much you need a %26quot;real%26quot; checking account, as opposed to transferring money from EmigrantDirect to a checking account when you need funds.

loan
Well, anything is better than Bank of America.
WAMU%26#039;s rate will probably not stay that high forever, and there is likely a minimum balance that you must maintain to get that rate.|||wamu, most definately.
It%26#039;s more convienent. I just signed up with them.
you don%26#039;t even need a minimum..
but
whatever you do, don%26#039;t ever bank with CHASE!!
