Transfered 2 of my cc balances and want to close the accounts?

I just got approved for an Amex Blue card for $6000.00. I transfered a couple of my high interest rate credit cards from my Express Fashion account and mu Household Bank account to my new Amex card to take advantage of the intro 0.00% APR for 12 months to pay them off. The total amount that I transfered to my new Amex account is $1,129. My question is should I close both of other accounts, or just close out my Express account and still keep the Household bank account with the $1,100 credit limit? Please give me advice, on what will have the least negative affect on my credit score

You are very good in keeping tract of your accounts. It%26#039; is good to transfer and consolidate into one account, but it is not very good to keep on opening and applying credit cards to so many companies. If you are not going to apply for any major loans right now or in the next one year, it is best to close all your open credit card accounts and just leave one that is your favorite and you have relationship with already for a long time. Anyway, whether you close or just not use your credit card, they will still show in the credit reports. But for fraud sake - If I were you, I will close some and leave just one that is my favorite. I will pick the one with the 6,000.00 limit but, compare the interest rates and make sure that you pay every month all that you owe. Do not leave any thing to pay or balance to pay from last month to next month - in other words try to pay off every month so you could get away from big interest rate charges. And don%26#039;t charge unless you really really need to charge.

Cancel both cards you transferred from, otherwise you will be tempted to use them in the future, which could burden you in the long run.

Household isn%26#039;t the best company to have a card with anyway.|||If you can keep from using them, the BEST thing for your credit score/history is keeping both cards open.|||Don%26#039;t close out the accounts. This will lower your credit score.|||I would close one and keep another one open FOR EMERGENCIES (and I%26#039;m not talking about a sale at Blomingdales...LOL LOL.) Don%26#039;t use the Amex card until the balance is paid in full.|||I really don%26#039;t understand why....whenever someone asks this question on yahoo, people are always quick to answer close the accounts. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, do not close the accounts. For starters you transferring the balance to AMEX, raises your score because those balances are considered paid off and are at zero. Now instead of having two cards that are caring balances, now you have one. Also closing the accounts will do nothing but lower your score. Just keep the cards open, and don%26#039;t use them or get carried away if possible. Save for emergencies or if you do use them, keep the balances low. I also have a household bank card, and I have no problems either. Low interest rate, no annual fee, (they don%26#039;t give rewards) but when my credit was messed up really bad, they were the first ones to give me a credit card when everyone else denied me. But overall keep the accounts open.|||Make sure to keep the one you%26#039;ve had the longest open. History of credit is one of the important factors in the calculation of credit scores. So if you%26#039;ve had the cards for a few years and close them, you%26#039;re credit history will not seem as long.|||Closing credit card accounts will put a small ding in your score. But since you just opened a new card with a larger limit, you wouldn%26#039;t even see the ding if you closed both of those accounts.

However, if you close them you also close your history. I recommend you keep the major credit card. Just don%26#039;t carry a balance. If you use it, pay it off in full each month.

Close the Express Fashion if that%26#039;s a store charge card. It%26#039;s better to have a manageable number of credit cards. You must monitor and secure those cards.

Oh, work on paying off that balance that you transferred. Carrying balances on credit cards is a bad thing. You pay interest.|||Ok,

It can lower your credit rating to close the accounts. But that will only be TEMPORARY. Also if your credit to debt ratio will remain low, it is no big deal to close off unused accounts and should minimally impact you.

It is important to check your credit report after you close them to ensure that the closure says it was by your request.

If you are not looking for a loan/mortgage in the near future, it%26#039;s better to close off unwanted accounts.

I think I need to seek some advice from a financial planner. How do I ?

Do you just call on the phone and tell them you need financial advice. Do they charge you a rate for their advice? Do you bring all of your bank account information, 403b, bonds and savings information with you. How do I go about this? Who will give me good advice on investing?

I think I need to seek some advice from a financial planner. How do I ?military loans

Yep, you definitely want to get references. You can always check with the Better Business Bureau, but I%26#039;d suggest checking with sources you know - friends and relatives who have been happy with the advice they%26#039;ve gotten. There are thousands of people out there that provide advice. Not all are honest, and not all are knowledgable. For that reason, it might pay you to do a little reading first, before you hire someone, so that you know enough to recognize whether someone is %26quot;blowing smoke%26quot; or if they%26#039;re real.

Realistically, you shouldn%26#039;t need to bring EVERYTHING with you, but some companies teach their newbies to demand to see all your paperwork. It really is overkill, but I guess they think they are doing %26quot;due diligence%26quot; by inspecting every document. What you really need to know is how much you have invested, where, and how much you earn and how much of that you can afford to invest going forward. So, to some extent, 403b%26#039;s, bonds, etc. would be helpful, but you don%26#039;t need bank statements, just a general idea of balances that you can invest.

Best of luck to you.

You can go to some websites listed below. I have personally used Ameriprise through American Express and love them. They came out to my house and went over some of the money flow systems, retirement and savings for my future house.

http://www.prudential.com/index/|||how much do u have? if its significant u need to go to someone that specializes in over 250K in assets since they are better.

otherwise, look up highly rated fin planners off of money magazine, or fortune magazines list and contact one of them.

they will charge u a fee of around 1% or so to manage your money.

u wont neccessarily have to take the bonds to them. u will need to be able to provide them accurate infor on what u have.

they will need to know all your assets etc and speak with you about your risk tolerance and a lot of other factors to determine what mix of investments are right for you. its important to go to someone that is highly regarded for knowledge and honesty, obviously.|||Get references for a financial planner from people yuou know, if you can. They should either be a Certified Financial Planner or a Registered Investment Advisor. Check with your state securities agency. They should be registered there and you can check on their background. Also check with the National Association of Securities Dealers. Thats the agancy that regulates broker//dealers, investment advisors etc. You may be able to get a list of financial planners in your area from the NASD or your state agency. Also you may want to check with the Better Business Bureau. When you chose a planner you should recieve a copy of their ADV. Thats their disclosure statement that tells their background, qualifications, services they offer and their fees. Fees are usually charged either on an hourly basis for a set amount of time and advice which yiou can implement yourself. They may charge a couple hundred dollars an hour for this. Or by a percentage of how much you have invested with them, if you want them to continuously manage your portfolio for you. That fee should be less than two percent annually.|||To get the proper financial advice you should either get a referral or speak to two or three professionals in person or over the -phone before making your decision. It is important to know that big names do not guarantee you sound, personal advice. A good advisor will offer you a free consultation. In that initial conversation, you should determine if the person is trying to %26quot;sell%26quot; your or help you understand what planning will do for you. Once you agree to work with a planner, you will be told what the fee will be.

Your question makes me wonder whether you need a financial planner to help you set up your estate, or an investment advisor who can help improve your financial condition. If all you want to do is reduce your taxes, debt and losses in the stock market, an advisor with a minimum of five years in the field is your answer.

Don%26#039;t expect to get advice that can help you build wealth, for free.

The typical fee for expert advice starts at $500 and can go as high as $5000.

A good advisor will listen to you first, without making a lot of ovations. Beware the hounds that are out there who come in with their laptops and start spitting out terminology that will make your head swim.

I treat people as if they are the last person I will ever meet. The result is that they are happy that they came to us. There are a lot of professionals that will do the same. If you have assets valued from $200,000 and upward, you should demand good service and references. Don%26#039;t be taken by people who are well-dressed and have glossy looking literature to spread out in front of you. That%26#039;s the last thing they should offer you if they are success oriented.

Be diligent in your search for investment support and keep your ears and eyes wide open. You will find what you%26#039;re looking for soon enough.

Debt conslidation?

I have tried to get all my bills together on one payment but the bank would only give me 20% intrest. The probalem besides the high rate is that my highest rate on all of my credit card is only 10%. I allways pay on time, so why cant I get a lower rate? Any ideas? (no equity loans!)

Is that really necessary? I mean you have tried that and it ends up the same way. Why don%26#039;t you pick only one card. Cut up the others and don%26#039;t spend them and get those paid off. Just keeping the one will help you only charge one account, keeping you from having outrages bills. Just give it a thought!

Debt conslidation?

10% is not bad at all for credit cards. I don%26#039;t know how you will do any better than that without doing an equity loan, unless you can find a high limit credit card that offers 0% interest for the first year that you can consolidate onto. But then you have to be careful about what your plans are once the rate adjusts (which will likely be higher than 10%)

WAMU or Emigrant Direct?

Should I take advantage of the online special at WAMU right now - 5% APY if you get a savings and checking account, or open an Emigrant Direct online savings account? Will that WAMU rate stay so high or will it drop later? I%26#039;m more confident in the consistency of Emigrant%26#039;s rate. What do you all suggest? Any users of either of these banks? I currently have checking with Bank of America.

WAMU or Emigrant Direct?credit cards

You have to remember that WaMu and EmigrantDirect.com are very different establishments. EmigrantDirect.com is strictly online, meaning no branch offices, no check writing priveleges, etc. WaMu is a brick and mortar facility as well as an online presence. You%26#039;ll get an actual checkbook from WaMu which may or may not be helpful to you, depending on how your personal finances are.

The WaMu rate in all likelihood will go down, though, whereas EmigrantDirect.com has greater ability (and incentive) to keep their rates higher. Overall, it kind of depends on how much you need a %26quot;real%26quot; checking account, as opposed to transferring money from EmigrantDirect to a checking account when you need funds.

whatever you do, don%26#039;t ever bank with CHASE!!

Tough Math problem?

The formula for calculating the amount of money returned for an initial deposit into a bank account or CD (certificate of deposit) is given by A= P(1+r/n)^nt. ^nt means to the nt power.

A is the amount of the return.

P is the principal amount initially deposited.

r is the annual interest rate (expressed as a decimal).

n is the number of compound periods in one year.

t is the number of years.

Carry all calculations to six decimals on each intermediate step, then round the final answer to the nearest cent.

Suppose you deposit $4,000 for 8 years at a rate of 7%.

So my question is calculate the return (A) if the bank compounds annually (n = 1). Round your answer to the hundredth%26#039;s place. Also calculate the return (A) if the bank compounds monthly (n = 12). Round your answer to the hundredth%26#039;s place.

Tough Math problem?exchange rate

1. compounding annually

A= P(1+r/n)^nt

P = 4000

r = .07

n = 1

t = 8

A = 4000 x (1+.07/1)^(1x8) = 4000 x (1.07)^8 = $6,872.75

2. compounded monthly

P = 4000

r = .07

n = 12

t = 8

A= P(1+r/n)^nt = 4000 x (1+.07/12)^(12*8) = 4000 x (1.005833)^96 = $6,991.31

Tough Math problem?

loan

Assuming you don%26#039;t want to see the arithmetic,

A = 4000*(1 + .07/1)^(1*8) = 4000*(1.07)^8

A = 4000*1.718186 = $6,872.74 (compounded yearly)

A = 4000*(1 + .07/12)^(12*8) = 4000*(1 + .005833)^96

A = 4000*(1.005833)^96 = 4000*1.747826 = $6,991.31 (compounded monthly)

I applied for a loan throu Washington Mutual but never signed anything or paid any money. Am I locke

I only interacted with the loan officer over the phone. He told me he would lock in a rate but when I recieved a copy of the application the rate was higher. It also said that I didn%26#039;t need to sign anything unless asked. Can banks fill out mortgage application for you over the phone and have it bindng if I didn%26#039;t sign anything or pay them any money? Found a better broker and would like to switch but Wamu is telling me that I%26#039;d have to pay for some of the things they%26#039;ve already done. My realtor told me that they haven%26#039;t done anything and the law office said that unless I sign something or give someone money nothing is binding. Is this true? Can I switch to a different lender with better rates without any penalties? Doesn%26#039;t make any sense to me that a bank could lock you into a mortgage over the phone without any signatures. As far as I know, no signature, no deal. Words are not legally binding as a business contract. the only thing that can tie you down is a written contract with your signature on it. BUT take a look at this sites definition and see if it says anything a little more helpful.
